FAMILY PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR INFANTS, TODDLERS, AND PRESCHOOLERS
Dr. Diaz offers child-parent psychotherapy for infants (0 – 12 months), toddlers (1 – 3 years), and preschoolers (3 – 5 years) affected by trauma and other mental health problems. Using relationship-based therapy, Dr. Diaz creates a safe, nurturing environment in which the child and parents can develop and strengthen their relationship. Children learn and communicate through play, and so play is used as a way to facilitate child-parent interactions to promote healthy, long-lasting bonds.
By applying a variety of therapeutic modalities and having a deep understanding of infant and child mental health, Dr. Diaz helps parents support the physical and socio-emotional development of their children so they can recover, thrive, and return to a healthy path of development. Dr. Diaz also offers early screening and detection of developmental delays and disorders. When appropriate, she encourages collaboration with other service providers working with the family.
“Parents are vital to their children’s mental health and wellbeing, and the way parents support young children during this time will determine how children cope and overcome.” — Dr. Diaz
